Andy Serkis is going to collaborate with South Korean movie director Jason Kim and Climax Studio for a fantasy film titled The Monster Tale, and here is everything we know.

Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium Productions to Invest in South Korean Production

Andy Serkis’ Imaginarium Productions and South Korean Climax Studio reveal an exciting collaboration for a fantasy feature film. According to an exclusive report from Sedaily and Deadline, the film is titled The Monster Tale. Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish will input their cinematic insights as executive producers along with Climax Studio’s founder Byun Seung-Min.

  • Serkis and Cavendish co-created the Imaginarium Productions in 2011. Ever since they have produced a couple of films and high-end TV dramas. Their filmography includes Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle starring Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, and the film Breathe starring Andrew Garfield. Their latest work was the Netflix series Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself released in the latter half of 2022.

  • Talking about the exciting collaboration with Imaginarium production, Climax Studio’s founder Byun said, “I look forward to working together with The Imaginarium on this global production project,”  Adding to that he expresses the strong belief that this is going to be one of the most exciting projects they have worked on.
  • Climax Studio is on the rise with its successful productions in recent years. Which includes the massive Netflix original hit series DP and Hellbound of 2021. They also produced the Netflix science-fiction film Jung_E (2023) so this collaboration for a creature fantasy film is worth looking forward to.

Andy Serkis’ The Monster Tale is a fantasy creature film that will focus on a clashing group of East Asian monsters. These monsters need to team up to defeat an impending invasion from a beast across the ocean in Europe. That’s just the basic outline of the project’s synopsis. Further details regarding its protagonists, antagonists, and the main conflict will be revealed, hopefully, later on.

  • The film will feature Jason Kim also known as Kim Joo Hwan, as director and screenwriter. His famous works include The Divine Fury, Midnight Runners, and the Netflix series Bloodhounds. While sharing his excitement for the film, the director expresses his desire to “provide the global audience with a new kind of entertainment”.
  • He describes The Monster Tale as a fantasy action of monsters from the east and west.  Fans can expect the release of additional details of the star cast, and the release date as the project progresses in production.

Cavendish expresses his eagerness of working with Climax Studio for The Monster Tale. When prompted, he explains the heart of Imaginarium is to bring “brilliant, flawed, and complex characters to the screen”.

  • Moreover, he summarizes the film as a wild roller-coaster ride of a story and promises it will be unlike anything the audience has seen before.

Along with the production of The Monster Tale, Imaginarium Productions is also preparing to release Next Goal Wins. The sports drama will focus on the American Samoa national football team. The film will star Michael Fassbender under the direction of Director Taika Waititi.

  • In addition to all those, Andy Serkis will make his return as a director with the adaption of Animal Farm. It will be an animated film based on the classic novel by George Orwell.
