Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice — FromSoftware Elaborates Their Decision On Excluding Multiplayer

FromSoftware, the studio behind some of the back-breaking RPGs like Dark Souls and Bloodborne announced their new game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at E3 this year. However, unlike Dark Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won’t have a multiplayer mode.

With an interview with Dualshockers’s Logan Moore, Producer Robert Conkey elaborated FromSoftware’s decision on excluding multiplayer from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Robert said, “First of all, the combat is based on a ‘completely different mentality.’ The traversal is completely different, the way that you explore the map is a lot more vertical. So there is a lot more going on and a lot more you can potentially miss or be surprised to find.”

“This was a deliberate design choice on FromSoftware side. When you make a multiplayer game there are certain restrictions that come along with it. As an example, when you’re designing a boss, you have to design it for two players, whether they’re spellcasters or knights. You have to set up the boss so that it can work and be balanced against all these different approaches. This puts a limitation on how you can design bosses and on what you can do with them”, he added.
