All Honkai Star Rail Paths explored: Character roles and Aeons

When it comes to setting up a Honkai Star Rail character in team composition, their paths play an important role. Not only does it determine their in-game abilities, but it categorizes them for their specific type of gameplay. For instance, the units that belong to The Hunt are destined to be a single target DPS or sub-DPS. Sure, there can be exceptions in the future but for now, each character executes abilities that align with their respective paths. 

 

Aeons are the omnipotent beings of the Honkai Star Rail universe, each representing the 14 paths. So far the game has introduced only seven of them, which are “Destruction”, “Erudition”, “Hunt”, “Harmony”, “Nihility”, “Preservation”, and “Abundance”. The following article will take a closer look at each of their specialty and their respective characters in the game.

The Destruction

Characters: Arlan, Blade, Clara, and Hook

Through the power of Nanook, characters who possess the “Destruction” Path admire anger and recklessness. Moreover, they protrude destructive behavior that allows them to be the bruiser during combat. They are also the frontrunners in a battle and can hold their ground against the enemy when fighting alone.

Therefore, the “Destruction” units excel at being the DPS or a Sub DPS in the game. 

The Erudition

Characters: Herta, Himeko, Jing Yuan, Qingque, and Serval

The “Erudition” Path represented by Nous, stands for the idea of logic and strategy. Their characters are designed to apply strategic thinking that allows them to clutch during a battle. Additionally, their abilities are designed to hit multiple targets which makes them the valued shield breakers. 

Those who are likely to play around with this Path’s units should know when to use their skills to change the course of a battle in Honkai Star Rail. 

The Hunt

Characters: Dan Heng, Seele, Sushang, and Yanqing

The characters that follow the “Hunt” Path admire determination and ruthlessness. Lan bestowed the Path’s power to those who are tenacious. Moreover, they are identified for their extraordinarily high single-target damage which makes them a great DPS in the game. They can easily nuke down bosses in the game when stacked with correct builds and buffs. 

The Harmony

Characters: Asta, Bronya, and Tingyun

Xipei uses the “Harmony” Path to preach the joy of unity and cooperation among living beings. Hence, characters who follow this Path admire cooperative and collective behavior. They make use of their abilities to buff their allies, which advertently enhances their battle strength. 

The Nihility

Characters: Kafka, Pela, Sampo, Silver Wolf, and Welt

By the power of IX, characters who possess the “Nihility” Path admire exhaustion and laziness. However, they are the only ones who could apply a debuff to enemies during combat. They are known to participate in meaningful behavior but are highly skilled at reducing the opponent’s strength to have the upper hand in a battle.

The Preservation

Characters: Gepard and March 7th

As the Aeon of the “Preservation” path, Qlipoth encourages patience and sacrifice. Characters who follow the path acquire defensive behavior which makes them an excellent support unit in the game. Moreover, these units are capable of protecting their allies by casting shields and barriers.

The Abundance

Characters: Bailu, Luocha, and Natasha

As the Aeon of the “Abundance” Path, Yaoshi blesses those who admire selflessness and altruism. Additionally, characters who follow the Path acquire healing abilities. They fulfill the role of dedicated healer for any team in the game, capable of sustaining allies during an extended battle.
