Steam Deck with Resident Evil 4 Remake running
Can the Steam Deck run the Resident Evil 4 demo?

Resident Evil 4 Remake is one of the most anticipated games of 2023 and is coming later on in March. Before the full launch, Capcom has released a playable Chainsaw Demo so fans can try out the final product.

This version hosts a reimagined narrative and gameplay features supported by great visuals. While the official release states support for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC, the question arises if it can be played on the Steam Deck. To that, the answer is yes, it is playable on the handheld if some criteria are met.

About Resident Evil 4 Remake on Steam Deck

Even though Steam Deck is a handheld gaming console, its performance output is far higher. The device is equipped with a custom AMD APU that has both Zen 2 and RDNA 2, strictly meant for gaming. Additionally, it provides users a portable high-end gaming experience.

Since the Steam Deck has been created to make AAA gaming fun on the go, it comes as no surprise that it can run the latest horror title. However, it should be kept in mind that this performance can only be reached with FSR 2.0 Supersampling.

In Resident Evil 4 Remake Chainsaw Demo’s current state, it can run smoothly with 40-60 FPS easily. If users wish to have an even better experience, they can also lock the game at 30 FPS to get a consistent experience.

There are times when players might find the game dipping frames, which seems like a bit of an issue. However, that is mostly a caching issue and will be fixed with updates. Nonetheless, Resident Evil 4 Remake can be run on the Steam Deck and players can expect a fairly good experience.
