Counter-Strike 2 positive feature: Skins from CS:GO will be carried forward for players’ use

Skins were first introduced to the Counter-Strike franchise after the release of Global Offensive. The massive hit allowed players to represent themselves in the game while keeping the gun mechanics intact. However, these cost real money, raising fear that players will lose their expensive skins with CS2.

In an official blog, Valve stated the following about skins in Counter-Strike 2, “Not only will you keep every item you’ve collected over the years, but they’ll all benefit from Source 2 lighting and materials.” This reaffirms to the players that they won’t lose anything but rather find them upgraded.

Counter-Strike 2 will also feature upgraded high-resolution models and weapons to fully utilize Source 2. Additionally, some skins will also take advantage of these new improved models and shader systems.

Other than cosmetics, the game environment and effects have also been switched to high-resolution with Source 2. Every model and effect reacts to light seamlessly to give a more realistic look while keeping it competitive.

A new and improved user interface has also been added with Counter-Strike 2 that makes it feel fresh. According to Valve, the UI of CS2 has completely been overhauled and includes fresh visual effects throughout the HUD. Thus, giving important information on the screen, while keeping visuals clear.
