Original Article

Sony Pictures India (official YouTube channel) uploaded a new commercial for Spider-Man: No Way Home promoting a cashback deal for Indian moviegoers. The final seconds of the 18-second commercial promote “Exciting Offers on Tickets” through PayTM and BookMyShow, two of the most prominent ticket-booking websites in the country.

The still also includes this –

In the description of the commercial, you’ll find links to both PayTM and BookMyShow’s deal pages. The latter isn’t active at the time of writing this article, however, the PayTM deal page is live and working.

Now, the same PayTM deal page’s link is available on the official Spider-Man page of Sony Pictures India (the Bravia link above). When you visit the page, you’ll see this –

Obviously, this doesn’t confirm anything and it’s a really bad fan-made poster. It could be a terrible mistake from PayTM’s side, but since they’re officially working with Sony Pictures India on the collaboration, this seems strange. Did they deliberately do it? Or is it a genuine mistake? Could be a lazy effort by the PayTM team as well. Knowing Marvel, I don’t think they’ll make such a marketing mistake, but who knows?
