Douma had a very tough childhood before he became a demon. As a child, he had a supernatural presence in him as his parents were staunch followers of Eternal Paradise.

He was a very unique and insightful child, and was born with polychromatic eyes that made him different from all the kids.

However, due to a lack of proper attention from his parents, he was a sociopath and felt no emotions. Because of his godly appearance, he became a cult leader at a very young age and gained many followers. He never felt any emotions in this cult for his followers and considered them foolish, worm-like, and pitiful.

Douma’s mother murdered his father because he cheated on her with another woman. She took her own life as well after she murdered her husband. However, despite this tragic incident, he remained unfazed by this and didn’t feel any sorrow.

Douma was only 20 years old when he first met Muzan Kibutsuji. His lack of empathy and care made the latter extremely impressed and thus turned him into a demon.

However, later Kibutsuji realized that Douma might have the caliber to surpass him in Blood Demon Art. He feared his charismatic approach to demons and humans alike, and he might become the first demon to conquer sunlight.

For meat and sustenance, Douma prefers to devour younger women. This is because he believes that young women’s blood and flesh are superior.

He always has a steady supply of meat because of his Eternal Paradise Faith cult and he doesn’t even have to hunt. Due to his charismatic preaching style, his followers seek out him and he devours them saying that with him, they will live forever.

As seen in the Entertainment District arc, Douma brought in Daki and Gyutaro as demons by transfusing his blood into them. This pleased Muzan immensely and he was promoted to being Upper Rank 2 of the Twelve Moons.

Besides these, the tactics used by Douma to gain a steady meat supply are also very commendable. His bloodlust and intelligence impressed Muzan and soon he understood that the demon was going to come in handy in the long run.

Wrapping up

In the coming years of Demon Slayer, it will soon be revealed that Douma is an extremely antagonizing character with immense psychopathic tendencies. Because of his good looks, and manipulative talking style, he is one of the most famous demons among the fans.
