Nintendo dropped an epic new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom yesterday, and fans are already clamoring to dive back into the world of Hyrule and its celestial islands. Clocking in at nearly 4 minutes, this exciting video has been compared to the launch trailer of its predecessor, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Packed with plenty of Easter eggs for franchise fans, there’s no doubt that this latest trailer has left us itching for more!
1. The villagers of Hyrule
Did you notice the anonymous characters brandishing weapons and shields while Link rides on the back of a horse surrounded by Moblins and Bokoblins at minute 1:38?
At 3:13, there’s a shot of Link surrounded by Hylians, a Goron, and a Gerudo, all ready to march into battle with their respective weapons. These scenes give us a glimpse of the thrilling battles that await in this epic game.
Unlike Breath of the Wild, where villagers played a minor role, this game promises to give NPCs a greater level of importance and interaction with the player
2. Ganondorf is back!
The Great King of Evil, Ganondorf, has returned in all his wicked glory! After much anticipation, we finally get a glimpse of his classic design in the latest trailer for the upcoming game. Nintendo had already hinted at his appearance in this installment, but now we can see his menacing presence at the 3:01 mark.
We haven’t seen him in his human form since 2006’s Twilight Princess, and in Breath of the Wild, we only got to see him as the monstrous Ganon. But in the sequel, we’ll finally have the chance to face off against the Dark Lord in his human form.
3. The Goddess of Power?
Some speculate that the character who appears at 3:09 may be Din, one of the three Goddesses who created Hyrule, with a design resembling that of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.
If this theory holds true, it would mark the first time one of the goddesses appears in a 3D game of the saga. Could Nayru and Farore also make an appearance? Only time will tell.
4. Bubbles!
At 1:32, Link jumps into a large floating bubble containing a mysterious green element, which appears to be on a celestial island. This mechanic may allow Link to traverse through areas that would otherwise be unreachable. Additionally, another bubble is visible in the background, indicating that this element is not unique.
5. Mission Impossible?
In minute 1:33, you can see Link falling through a tunnel filled with laser beams, which could be a part of a dungeon. But what’s even more interesting is the robe he’s wearing, with what looks like “wings” when he spreads his arms.
This detail raises the question of whether it’s just a cool aesthetic or if it could play a significant role in Link’s ability to glide through the skies.
6. Where is Zelda?
At 1:51, we catch a glimpse of a scene that sheds light on Zelda’s mysterious disappearance after her fatal fall into an abyss, which separates her from Link. In this scene, she seems to encounter a colossal, enigmatic character dressed in a robe reminiscent of the Zonai race.
The character’s cryptic words suggest that he may already know about Link and his crucial role as the kingdom’s last hope. It’s a tantalizing detail that leaves us wondering about Zelda’s fate and the significance of this mysterious character in the game’s plot.
9. The Zonai and Master Sword
One long-standing rumor suggests that the game will play with different timelines, which wouldn’t be surprising for a saga like this. The presence of the prehistoric Zonai and a design of Link sporting longer hair and a green outfit.
In previous videos, we’ve seen the iconic weapon broken, and even in the game’s logo. But in the latest trailer, Master Sword has been fully restored. It sparks a theory that Ganondorf may have had a hand in its destruction. Could this mean that Link must travel to the past to restore the weapon and defeat his enemy? It’s a fascinating possibility that has Zelda fans buzzing with anticipation.
8. “I know why I am here.. it’s something only I can do.”
The trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reveals intriguing objects resembling tears, including a particularly eye-catching one held by Zelda herself. Other characters are also seen possessing similar tear-like objects, with suspicions arising that Ganondorf’s forehead may be adorned with one as well.
9. A flying ship??
You may be surprised to learn that one of their original ideas for the game included an alien invasion with flying saucers! While the concept was ultimately discarded, some fans speculate that it may have made a comeback in the latest trailer.
Watch closely and you may catch a glimpse of several flying ships descending from the sky during a storm at minute 1:30. Could it be a hint at an alien invasion plot twist?
10. Zonai Leader?
1 minute and 42 seconds into the latest trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a new enigmatic character makes a brief appearance. With golden horns, a dark complexion, and striking white hair, this mysterious figure is sure to pique the interest of even the most avid Zelda fans. Keep your eyes peeled for any additional clues about this character’s identity as you eagerly await the game’s release!
