Police said that just before midnight, the child killed her 9-year-old brother in the upstairs bedroom while their mother was asleep and then frightfully flung the knife out the window. The crime’s motivation has not been made public by the police.
A subsequent update, however, indicates that she has been accused of first-degree murder.

The stabbing reportedly occurred in the city’s southernmost 1000 block of 64th Place South. When officials arrived on the site, they discovered that the 9-year-old victim was already receiving CPR from paramedics and Tulsa firefighters. They also noticed the stab wounds on the chest of the victim.
The 12-year-old suspect told her mother, April Lyda, that she had stabbed her 9-year-old sibling, prompting Lyda to call the Tulsa Police Department. She was also captured on camera crying and apologizing to her mother and the police as she was being taken away.
The suspect can also be seen leaving the upstairs bedroom and repeatedly shouting, “I’m so sorry,” in the video shared by The Law and Crime Network.
The mother can be heard saying, “How could you stab him?! You better pray to God he’ll make it.”
