The first round of the NBA playoffs is still going on but some teams have already beat their competition and have advanced to the 2nd round. With the best teams fighting for a chance at an NBA championship, the battle will become even fiercer in the higher stage.

After a long first-round series, let’s go through a possible playoffs semi-finals matchup in both the Western and Eastern conferences this year.

Western Conference Semi-Finals

Phoenix Suns V.S. Dallas Mavericks

Both the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks need one more win to advance to the 2nd round. The Suns and Mavericks are also both up 3-2 against the Pelicans and Jazz, respectively. Suns’ superstar, Devin Booker, is still injured, but their chances of beating New Orleans are still high. On the other hand, with a problematic Utah Jazz and the return of Luka Doncic on the floor, the Mavericks could close out this series in their upcoming match tomorrow (April 28, 10 PM EST).

The 1st seed and probably the best team in the NBA struggled against a 9th seed Pelicans in the first round. Though it might be because Booker is out of rotation. It would be a very exciting matchup if they face Luka and the Dallas Mavericks in the 2nd round.

Golden State Warriors V.S. Memphis Grizzlies

The Dubs are red hot in the playoffs as of late. One more win and they’re on the road to another deep playoff run. Even with Jokic’s monster performance, Nuggets still couldn’t catch a break. The Warriors’ possible matchup in the semifinals could be the talented young core of Memphis. Led by Morant, Bane, and Brooks, the Grizzlies could force Timberwolves out of contention in Game 6.

If this matchup happens, I got my money riding on the Warriors. They’re more skilled, more experienced, and not to mention, they already have a death line-up.

Eastern Conference Semi-Finals

Miami Heat V.S. Philadelphia 76ers

With their win against the Atlanta Hawks, the Miami Heat has finally advanced to the second round of the playoffs. They will be waiting for whoever wins between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors.

With Joel Embiid and James Harden leading the way for the Sixers, they have the upper hand against Siakam and the Raptors. But, James Harden has been quiet and putting numbers below his averages as of late. If they face in the second round, the Heat could melt the Sixers with their blazing hot defense, even with Embiid’s emphatic scoring ability.

Milwaukee Bucks V.S. Boston Celtics

The Bucks battling the Celtics could be the best possible matchup there is. It’s very well balanced and well-matched. As a result, this could even go to a 7-game playoffs series. The best defensive team faces one of the best offensive stars. How good could that get?
