In a surprising move, 2K have revealed that they are bidding farewell to Yuke’s. This will mark the end of a 20-year partnership with Yuke’s. This comes at a time when it was revealed that Yuke’s is working on a new, original wrestling IP.
As Video Game Chronicles reports, “WWE 2K20 will be developed by Visual Concepts, who have worked with Yuke’s on the development of the series since WWE 2K14.” 2K said that they were impressed with Visual Concept’s “incredible passion, talent, and commitment to the future of the series” and were excited to see what Visual Concept contributes to the future of the WWE 2K franchise.
Yuke’s, on the other hand, confirmed that they will “continue providing support to 2K with regard to the game engine.” Considering this marks the end of a partnership which lasted for 20-years, this is a very pivotal development for both 2K and Yuke’s. It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for both 2K and Yuke’s in the near future.
