First Cristiano Ronaldo, and now, Kylian Mbappe? Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal is en route to breaking a world record by offering a staggering package amounting to more than €1 Billion to take the French superstar, Kylian Mbappe. Take note, that is only worth a year’s salary for the 24-year-old striker. It’s going to be a very intense offseason for Mbappe knowing that he could get the bag in Saudi, move to Barca, or stay loyal to PSG. But, how did Al-Hilal’s bid to sign Mbappe from PSG reach to more than a billion Euros?
“The best player in the world doesn’t leave the club for free”
Due to a bitter-sweet predicament between Kylian Mbappe and his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, Al-Hilal is making huge steps to entice the French superstar into taking his talents to Saudi Arabia. However, PSG club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been firm in the past that “The best player in the world doesn’t leave the club for free” following Mbappe’s desire to move to another club (i.e. Barcelona or Real Madrid).

In pursuit to complete this quest, Al-Hilal submitted a €300 Million ($332 Million) bid to sign Mbappe from PSG. That excludes their one-year salary offer for the former World Cup champion, which could potentially reach €700 Million ($776 Million). In total, that could amount to €1 Billion ($1.1 Million) to sign one player. This package will mark as the biggest ever in sports history, worldwide!
What will this make of Kylian Mbappe?
Getting about $776 Million for just one season is pretty ridiculous, even for Kylian Mbappe. But, we all know that football money has always been far bigger than other sports (e.g. basketball, American football, and baseball). If Mbappe agrees to this deal, not only would he be the highest-paid athlete ever, but he would also make more than NBA’s 17 highest-paid players in the 2023-2024 season combined! That list includes Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, LeBron James, and many more. In addition to that, his potential 1-year salary with Al-Hilal is already bigger than LeBron James’ total earnings ($531 Million) in his 20-year NBA career. Just imagine how hefty this deal could be once Mbappe signs the paper. Moreover, that salary would be a huge jump to his current annual pay of $128 Million.

Is Kylian Mbappe interested in signing with Al-Hilal?
PSG has allowed Al-Hilal to submit a bid for Mbappe, but the Parisian football club is also taking notes on the superstar’s possible move to Real Madrid or even Barcelona. It’s going to be a tough battle in the summer for Kylian Mbappe. As of this writing, Mbappe is still with PSG but there are already negotiations going on behind closed doors. In addition to that, PSG will owe the 24-year-old French striker €60 Million as a loyalty bonus if he stays with the club on August 1st, 2023.
