Andy Slater shared a brief report from the authorities. In the statement, we learn that Alex Collins died in his hometown in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida last Saturday, August 13, 2023. The scenario was that, Collins was riding his 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600K motorcycle while traversing near the 3300 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard when at approximately 10:20 pm, he collided with another vehicle (a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban SUV) which was making a left turn.
Collins’ bike would crash so hard to the Chevrolet’s rear passenger side which would cause him to completely enter the car. Unfortunately, Alex Collins would be pronounced dead on the spot.
“According to investigators, at some point, the Chevrolet driver proceeded to turn left to travel south onto Northwest 33rd Avenue. As the car crossed the eastbound lanes, the motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the SUV. The impact caused the motorcyclist to enter the rear passenger side window of the Chevrolet and come to a final rest inside the car. The collision also cause the Chevrolet to rotate clockwise before finally resting.”
As of this writing, the authorities are still doing investigation.
Celebrating the amazing career of the former Seahawks, Ravens running back
We all remember Alex Collins, the star running back from the Arkansas Razorbacks. In three seasons, Collins managed to acrrue more than 1,000 rushed yards. He joins an elite group of SEC running backs to ever do such an amazing feat.
In 2016, Alexander Collins would be declaring for the NFL draft where he would be picked by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round. Surprisingly, the Seahawks released him to which he took the opportunity to sign with the Baltimore Ravens. The following year, Collins would play in his best year as a professional football player. He tallied mors than 900 yards and even had 6 touchdowns as he lead the Ravens. Sadly, injuries occured and his performances drastically dropped in 2018.
After being sidelined for quite some time, he would return to Seattle for another stint. But, this would be the last time football fans will see Collins in the NFL as he was released after the 2021 season. Before his untimely death, Alex played for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL (United States Football League) and was last seen on the field this summer, May 4. To his fans, Collins would be dubbed as one of the running backs in Arkansas. We will all miss him, especially his famous Irish dance touchdown celebration.

Most on here grew up watching McFadden, Jones, and others, but I grew up watching Alex Collins.
I will never forget the picked up fumble from Henry on 4th and 25 against Ole Miss in 2014. The first truly dominant Arkansas RB I can remember.

In the past year, we have witness the death of four NFL players who formerly played for the Baltimore Ravens
Aside from Alex Collins, we also lost three other Ravens in just a span of about a year. In June 2022, 26-year-old outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson died due to opioid overdose. Then, earlier this year in February, Ravens legend Tony Siragusa passed away due to a heart attack and went away in his sleep at 55.
In a single year, we’ve lost Jaylon Ferguson, Tony Siragusa, Ryan Mallett, and Alex Collins.
Their spirits will forever be part of the Ravens’ legacy.
