Nintendo’s fiscal year 2020 earnings reports are out now. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo’s biggest hit so far, has surpassed 11.7 million units sold worldwide.

The reports are for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2020. Nintendo has called Animal Crossing: New Horizons “the best start ever for a Nintendo Switch title”.

In the six weeks of 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold 13.41 million copies. This is an increase of 1.71 million copies. It is to be noted that the game was released on March 20. Which means, the game sold 11.7 million units in just 11 days. Editor’s Note: That’s insane!

Nintendo writes, “Looking at software, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield became big hits, posting sales of 17.37 million units, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, released in March, sold 11.77 million units, which is now the best start ever for a Nintendo Switch title.”

In terms of hardware, “sales of both hardware and software exceeded last year’s good results.” Nintendo sold a total of 21.03 million units for the fiscal year, which is a 24% increase on a year-on-year basis. 

Software sales totaled 168.72 million units (42.3% increase on a year-on-year basis).
