The Fabulous performance by Ravindra Jadeja in the first Test led India to win at Mohali. Now India is all set for the second Test on March 12 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. There have been some changes in the Indian squad. Axar Patel, the orthodox left-arm spinner has been included in the squad. He was unavailable for the first Test due fitness issue.
Axar has been out of action for the past three months.
He last featured for Team India in the two-match Test battle against New Zealand. The Ahmedabad-based spinner missed the South Africa tour and the home series against West Indies due to a shin injury. Later, Axar tested positive for COVID-19, which further delayed his return.
However, this led to exclusion of spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the squad. The Indian management feels that there is no need for three left-arm spinners in the Test team. This phase has been tough for the left-arm spinner, as he is not getting enough chances to play.
Kuldeep Yadav last featured in a Test match for the Indian side in February 2021. The left-arm spinner has featured in 7 Test matches for the Indian side and has taken 26 wickets at an average of 23.85. Kuldeep has also scalped 2 five-wicket hauls in Test match cricket.
