Best viewing locations for the green comet in the US

if you’ve been on Earth 50,000 years ago, you probably saw this one before. And with that, who wouldn’t be excited to see this once-in-a-thousand-years astronomical event? Right, we see shooting stars and constellations, but a comet and a green one? Oh, you wouldn’t let that pass for sure, whether you enjoy staring at the skies or are just curious, this one’s for you. Let’s talk about the best viewing locations in the US to perfectly watch the green comet. We are thrilled to have an opportunity to see this C/2022 E3 (ZTF)!

Locations for Green Comet

Before anything else, the Green Comet, or in its technical term C/2022 E3 (ZTF) passed by Earth many years ago. What we mean by many years ago, Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens were the inhabitants of that time. And in our lifetime, this certain comet happens to make its sky appearance on Earth, and it’s tonight, February 1st.

  • We wouldn’t get your hopes too high though, and you’ll probably need a keen eye to find this green comet. It’s relatively small in size, unlike other comets we may have seen before. Expect C/2022 E3 (ZTF) to not-be-so bright, and finding the best locations for viewing of the said comet is suggested.

  • The best locations to view this green comet would be for those who live in the Northern Hemisphere. The comet would trail its way on the Northern polar region, and also the same area where it can be seen best.
  • If you live in other regions around the Earth, you may need the best instrument to view it. When it gets farther away from the Earth, more people can see the C/2022 E3 (ZTF), however, its brightness is dimmer too. So, take your viewing instruments and ready them already!

Tips to view C/2022 E3 (ZTF)

In finding the perfect viewing spot, find a dark place where there’s less light pollution around. A clear sky would be the best option for a clear view of the comet hunters. Do check the sky on February 1 and 2 to easily catch a glimpse.

  • If you have a telescope or any powerful viewing equipment, then this should be fitting to use them. You can try a pair of binoculars too if you have one! Going back to the locations of the green comet, check for farmlands or clear forest sites, we think it would be best seen there.

Reserve the time around early morning to observe this comet, maybe at least around two hours before sunrise. Have you thought of the best location to view the nearing C/2022 E3 (ZTF) AKA Green Comet in the United States?
