The annual MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards) recently wrapped last August 28, 2022. It was held in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center. This event was led by Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, and Jack Harlow as the hosts for this year. Moreover, the VMAs have gathered some of the brightest artists in the world today.

These artists attended were led by Taylor Swift, BLACKPINK, Dylan O’Brien, Lizzo, Dove Cameron, Khalid, and more. The VMAs this year certainly made noise and became part of the trending topics even until now. Starting from the big winners of the night such as BTS, Taylor Swift, Lisa, Nicki Minaj, Harry Styles, and more.

BTS made history once again
  • This K-Pop boy group has won one of the big awards of the night. They won ‘Group of The Year’ making it their fourth consecutive win in the category alone. The group was nominated along with BLACKPINK, City Girls, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Maneskin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Silk Sonic.
  • Unfortunately, the group or any of the members did not appear on the red carpet this year. Even though they were also nominated in other categories which are ‘Best K-Pop’, ‘Best Choreography’, ‘Best Visual Effects’, and more.
  • For the reason that the group is currently on a break. The members are also focusing on their different solo endeavors too.


BLACKPINK made a historic performance
  • BLACKPINK made their first-ever performance in an American awards show. They performed their pre-release single ‘Pink Venom’ on the main stage.
  • The group also won ‘Best Metaverse Performance’ for BLACKPINK The Virtual – PUBG. While their fellow member, Lisa won ‘Best K-Pop’ for her ‘LALISA’ single. Making her the first solo female K-Pop soloist to win and be nominated in the VMAs.

Taylor Swift reveals upcoming new album
  • Swift won big in this year’s VMAs. She won ‘Video of The Year’ for the ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)’ music video. In addition, she also won ‘Best Direction’ for the same music video. This music video is a special one as it was written and directed by her.
  • Upon giving her speech for her ‘Video of The Year’ award, she then revealed that she has a new album. Fans went ecstatic online as this is going to be her 10th album which is titled ‘Midnights’, coming out this October 21.


More winners at the VMAS 2022
  • Nicki Minaj won one of the major awards of the night. She is the ‘Video Vanguard Honoree’ for this year. In honor of that, she performed for 10 minutes which includes her hit songs such as ‘Super Bass’.
  • Harry Styles also won big that night. He won ‘Album of The Year’ for Harry’s House. Then for his ‘As It Was’ song and music video, it won ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best Pop’.
