The last Call of Duty that did get released on Steam was Call of Duty World War 2 all the way back in 2017. All the other newer games including Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and even Vanguard were not released on Steam.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 leaked for Steam

As for the Modern Warfare leak, it was first posted by Reddit user Kalinine. The Steam page for the Call of Duty franchise shows Ghost from the game’s cover art in a banner. When clicked on the banner it later shows “explore the full franchise”.

It only took Activision a few hours to remove the banner and now that brings a lot of other possibilities. While the chances of the game coming to Steam are slightly less now, however, at this point no one knows what Activision would be doing. Since Vanguard’s sales fell pretty low, there’s a slight chance they would also release the game on Steam too.

In case you didn’t already know this, among the key reasons why Modern Warfare wasn’t released on Steam, was because of a cost-saving measure. Activision decided to publish the Battle Royale on the Blizzard launcher instead.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

Activision this year also revealed more about the upcoming game. As of now, Modern Warfare 2 is set to launch on October 28, 2022. Currently, as the leaks suggest, there are expectations for a reveal of the game in June. The game would be launched on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, along with PC.

Since the game size would be pretty huge, a few leaks suggest that the previous-gen versions may come ship on multiple discs. Just like a few other bigger titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, both the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game would come in multiple discs.

The first official reveal of CoD 2022 hit social media on April 28. Infinity Ward shared the official logo for its upcoming release. The logo also featured the same name, roman numerals in the logo just like the first game. This change would help it distinguish itself from the 2009’s MW2 as the game featured the standard ‘2.’
