Canelo Alvarez, the Mexican boxer, has agreed to a two-fight deal (VS. Bivol and Golovkin), as per ESPN. Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan(Canelo Alvarez) is now back with DAZN.
The 31-year-old superstar is set to fight Dmitry Bivol on May 7. This Russian boxer currently holds the light heavyweight title, and now has a record of 19 wins, 0 losses, 11 Knockouts.
“I am very happy with this fight against Dmitry Bivol,” Alvarez said. “It is another great challenge for me and my career — especially as I go up in weight and face an exceptional light heavyweight champion like Bivol. We will be ready like we always are.”
Back in November 2019, Canelo took his first light heavyweight match against another Russian, Sergey Kovalev. Though he is new in this weight class, he took down Kovalev in the 11th round and won the match via knockout.

The second bout in his two-fight deal will be against Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin on September 17. Canelo will defend his super middleweight title against Golovkin.
The Kazakhstani, Golovkin, is dubbed as the infamous rival of Canelo. Moreover, the two have already faced in the past. First in 2017 (Draw), followed by a bitter rematch in 2017 (Won by Canelo).
Their coming match-up will be their third and is one of the most anticipated match-ups in the boxing world. Golovkin is sitting with a whopping record of 41 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie, 36 KOs.
Alvarez is arguable the best pound-for-pound boxer today.
He’s already up there with the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Ranked as the no.1 in this category, the Mexican has a terrific professional boxing record of 57 wins, 1 loss, 2 ties, 39 KOs.
In two consecutive fights, Canelo will face two of the best boxers of today. In conclusion, the legendary boxer will continue to build his legacy and become one of the best boxers in history.
