Could GTA 6 be delayed until the launch of next-gen consoles?

It’s being reported that GTA 6, which is one of the most eagerly anticipated new releases, could be delayed by developer Rockstar Games.

The rumours started following the introduction of the Diamond Casino & Resort, a massive new expansion to GTA online.

When this expansion dropped, it was then announced that that GTA 5 (or GTA Online) had broken its player count six years after first launching.

Developer Rockstar also introduced a series of new add-ons for the game such as new cars, story-based missions, and a massive casino complex (full of mini-games) to enjoy causing the player count to skyrocket.

In a press release, Rockstar said: “This past week has seen more players than ever in GTA Online, with records set for biggest day and biggest week of player numbers since the game first launched back in 2013.”

GTA 5 is nearly six-years-old. However, that hasn’t stopped copies of the game still being sold regularly – meaning the title is a constant fixture on video games charts week after week.

It was reported on 2016 that “preliminary work” was started on GTA 6 but how much of this is true remains unsure – although talks have started regarding a variety of locations, characters and much more being mooted as potential features for the next Grand Theft Auto game.

There has also been rumours of a potential November 2020 release date with plans for a new game to launch on PS5 and Xbox Scarlett – the next-gen consoles for both Sony and Microsoft, respectively.
