The creator of the original table-RPG Cyberpunk, Mike Pondsmith, shared his views on the game and how people are reacting to it. Pondsmith says he was blown away by CD Projekt Red’s approach for the game.
The information comes from a GameLab chat, where Mike Pondsmith shared the following details. He said he was a little wary when CD Projekt Red first approached him for a video game based on his successful RPG, Cyberpunk. But after he met the team for a meeting in Poland, he was blown away by CD Projekt Red’s pitch and passion towards creating a game.
Talking about Cyberpunk 2077’s wild popularity, Pondsmith said that it is because an increasing number of people feel disempowered. And sadly, we all are advancing towards a world like in Cyberpunk 2077. Political tensions are rising every single day and the world is already in a state of turmoil for many different reasons.
Pondsmith even touched on the topic of politics in video games. He said, “Games are literature, games are art and art and literature are inherently political.”
Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia on 19 November. That’s of course until CD Projekt Red delays the game once again.
