Diablo 4’s Necromancer is a Different Type of Beast From Previous Version

Necromancer has always been an interesting class in Diablo. For Diablo 4, it seems to be a different type of beast from its previous versions. Here is why!

Diablo 4: Necromancer Class

During the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase 2022, the cinematic trailer of Diablo 4 reveals the fifth-class Necromancer. Known as a summoner class, Necromancer can resurrect and control the undead as well deal curse magic to its enemies.

“Player choice” in terms of gameplay in each class will provide players with more options on how to play Diablo 4. This means that each class will have a distinct and unique mechanic which differentiates each class from the other. Additionally, each class will now be customizable in an open-world setting which makes the experience more unique for each player.

In the recent interview of IGN with Rod Fergusson (game producer) and Joe Sheely (game designer) of Blizzard, details on the Necromancer were explained. Necromancer will now be playable again as a base class just like other Diablo games except for Diablo 3. Although, there are major differences, unlike previous Diablo Titles.

Unlike before, the controls on the undead summons are limited. The Book of the Dead allows players to choose various customization and settings for each of the controlled undead troops. Various options also include the offensive and defensive options for the undead army.

Moreover, the Necromancer class can now sacrifice its undead army to fight solo with enhanced stats. This offers a lot of flexibility in terms of play style and now has the option of not relying too much on the undead army, if the player chooses so. In this mode, the Necromancer primarily uses its cursed magic to wreak havoc on the battlefield.
