Doki Doki Literature Club Makes Headline In India; Channel Calls It “A Threat To Children’s Lives”

Doki Doki Literature Club

Indian news channels are always on the lookout for genuine news, quality content and opportunities to increase their TRP (Target Rating Point). On the eve of another substandard day without competent content to showcase, one of India’s prime news channels(as they claim), targeted Team Salvato’s Doki Doki Literature Club!.

Doki Doki Literature Club! is a unique and extremely strange visual-novel that took the internet by storm when it released on Steam on 22nd September last year. The game starts as an ordinary visual novel, but things start to get messy and strange as you keep playing.

To avoid spoilers, I’ll stop right there, without revealing any further information on the game. And for security reasons, the television channel’s name is censored.

This prominent news channel did a special on Doki Doki Literature Club!. The news originates from a suicide in Great Manchester earlier this year. In February 2018, 15-year-old Ben Walmsley was found dead from an apparent suicide in his apartment. It was later found that Ben was obsessed with Doki Doki Literature Club!, which is currently being used to materialise his suicide.

Of course, the news was soon heard by the extremely researching and skilled editors and reporters at the news channel’s headquarters. Upon finding some great content for their channel, they decided to do a special, not on the tragic event, but rather on the game.

As my source stated, the broadcast said that the game should be boycotted and no such games should be allowed in our country. Here are some of the pictures shared on Facebook that proves the credibility of the news programme –

There is no clear evidence on Doki Doki Literature Club!’s influence on Ben’s unformidable incident. And even if that’s the case, the game warns ‘children and people who get easily disturbed’ from avoiding the game completely.

Doki Doki Literature Club! clearly warns of the consequences of playing the game.

Even if Ben took his life due to his obsession for DDLC!, the game will continue to remain innocent. Boycotting a game that starts off with clear warnings just because one person harmed himself is imbecilic and foolish.

Make sure you subscribe to our push-notifications and never miss an update on Doki Doki Literature Club!. Until next time, Happy Gaming!

  1. Finally! One article talking about how doki doki isn’t associated to suicide and is actually defending it! Thank you!

    1. Because of amazing PR stunts like the one I talked about, media is getting thrashed every single day. After all, I and my site is a part of media too right?

While we hope for things to go the right away, smart people are always looking out for opportunities to spoil their own reputations.
