Gowry Questline is part of the string of questlines that will unlock an alternate ending to Elden Ring and the key to unlocking Sellia, Town of Sorcery. Gowry was once a Great Sage that intends to cure a girl named Millicent who has incurable Scarlet Rot disease. This guide provides the steps on how to complete the Gowry questline.
Elden Ring: Gowry Questline
Step # 1 – Gowry’s Location
- Gowry can be found in Gowry’s Shack near Sellia, Town of Sorcery.
- Go here to start Gowry Questline but proceed with caution and avoid the Giant Dog. on the path to his shack. It might kill Gowry while you are fighting or when it chases you which then will end the questline before it even starts.
- If by any chance the Giant Dog attacks (which reportedly it randomly does, lol), use Celestial dew to revive the NPC.
Step # 2 Millicent and the Uncurable Scarlet Rot
- Talk to Gowry and he will ask you to help the girl named Millicent with an incurable disease, Scarlet Rot.
- Head to Swamp of Aeonia to acquire the Unalloyed Gold Needle which can help Millicent alleviate the symptoms of her disease.
- To do this, defeat Commander O’Neil, a great enemy boss in the Swamp of Aeonia.
Step # 3 Commander O’neil and the Unalloyed Gold Needle
- Once Commander O’neil is defeated, it will drop the Unalloyed Gold Needle along with Commander’s Standard weapon and 12,000 Runes as loot.
- Return to Gowry’s Shack and hand over the Unalloyed Gold Needle to Gowry.

Step # 4 Sellia’s Secret
- Once the Unalloyed Golden Needle is handed over to Gowry, he will reward you with the Sellia’s Secret, an item that unlocks Sellia, Sorcery Town.
- Gowry will also try to fix the Unalloyed Golden Needle and will ask for “time”. You can either teleport from a site of grace and back or reboot the game which will give him the “time”. Then, talk to Gowry.
Step # 5 Millicent’s Renewed Health
- Gowry will now ask you to give the supposed fixed Unalloyed Golden Needle to Millicent in Church of the Plague. Millicent is beside the Church of Plague Site of Grace.
- Once the needle is given, Millicent will then fall asleep. Re-transport to the Church of the Plague Site of Grace.
- After re-transporting to the Church of Plague Site of Grace, speak to Millicent again.
- You will be rewarded with Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom Talisman, an item that increases your Dex by 5.
Step # 6 The Conclusion
- Return to Gowry’s Shack. Gowry will be gone and you will find Millicent there. Talk to her and reboot the game or travel to a site of grace and back. This will prompt Gowry to come back and you will have access to his shop.
Content of Gowry’s Shop
- Gowry will have various Sorceries and Incantations that you can purchase from his shop. These are the following:
- Glintstone Stars – Sorcery that shoots 3 homing projectiles to enemies.
- Night Shard – Sorcery that shoots a fast projectile.
- Night Maiden’s Mist – Sorcery that casts mists as an AOE magic damage.
- Pest Threads – Incantation that shoots sticky threads and slows down enemies.
- That is the end of Gowry’s Questline and the Start of Millicent Questline in Erdtree Grazing Hill.
