As gunfire went out, individuals could be seen racing across a parking lot seeking safety from the site.
Fontayne Payton, 35, heard the gunshot when he was at H&M. “It was so loud, it sounded like it was right outside,Payton said to the police.
He claimed that the shoppers in the store dispersed after hearing the gunshot. The staff then immediately led the people into a secured area. Payton noticed that the store had shattered glass and a blood trail leading to the door. Nearby were some abandoned sandals and bloody clothing.
Outside, Payton noticed bodies. “I pray it wasn’t kids, but it looked like kids,” he said. “The bodies were covered in white towels, slumped over bags on the ground.” he continued. “It broke me when I walked out to see that,” he added.
He could also see the body of a large man wearing all black further distant. Because it had not been covered up like the other dead, Payton claimed he assumed it was the shooter.
There were bloody walks outside the mall, and what appeared to be bodies were wrapped in white sheets. The victims’ ages ranged from five to 61. They are now being treated in trauma centers administered by Medical City Healthcare in Texas, which operates 16 hospitals in the area.
