Final Fantasy XVI: “Worth The Wait,” Says Game Designer

A number of games are being delayed owing to the pandemic. However, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI: Awakening seems to be right on track. At the recent Tokyo Game Show, the producer of the game provided us with a small update in regard to the development of the game. While Square Enix had wanted to showcase the game at the Game Show, the development team was unable to make the deadline.

Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the game, spoke at the Tokyo Game Show. He shared that Square Enix was making the final touches to the RPG game set to release for PS5.

Yoshida added that the main design for the game has been completed; that the character models are close to being completed. The team is just a few quality improvements left to be done. He also stated that the remaining side quests are being finalized.

Final Fantasy XVI was announced by Square Enix in September 2020 as the final installation in the Final Fantasy series.

“We have already completed basic development and scenario production, and are continuing to create large-scale resources and build boss battles while expanding our various development tools.”
– Square Enix

Hiroshi Takai, the designer for both Final Fantasy XIV and the new installation, stated “Though we’re pouring our hearts and souls into this project each and every day, it may still be some time before we can get it into your hands.”

“However, I promise it will be worth the wait!”

While a release date has not been decided as yet, we can expect that it will be some time before we get to experience the game on our consoles. However, with the knowledge that the game is in its final development stage, we can expect it sometime in the next year. Fans can take the word of Takai that it is going to be worth the wait.
