Fortnite x Pokémon is possibly the battle royale game’s most awaited collaboration yet. Fans of the game and the anime have speculated based on a lot of hints hiding in plain sight. Fortnite’s Chapter 4 Season 1 has been live since December and characters are now on a new island. Here’s what we know so far about a possible collaboration between Epic Games’ Fortnite and Nintendo’s Pokémon.

Epic Games and Nintendo

Rumors of a Fortnite x Pokémon collaboration gained momentum after an acquisition deal between the creators of the Battle Royale game and the popular anime-game franchise.

  • Recently, Epic Games acquired the company behind the popular Pokémon: GO, mobile AR game. As a result, fans believe this will strengthen the possibility of Pokémon characters, items and skins making their way to Fortnite. 
  • The acquisition does not directly reflect a possible crossover in the making but fans of Pokémon and Fortnite eagerly await the coming chapters and seasons of the Battle Royale game to feature their favorite pocket monsters.

Fortnite Switch in Pokémon?

A Twitter user claimed that the Fortnite Switch appears in Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet, adding more fuel to the rumors. The Nintendo Switch Fortnite Special Edition’s design features yellow and blue Joy-Cons that mimic the look of Fortnite Battle Royale. 

  • Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet is a popular open-world role playing game. The screenshot from the game posted on Twitter featured a Nintendo Fortnite Switch.
  • However, players were quick to point out that the colors of the Joy-Cons can be modified by the users.

Previous Fortnite collabs

The possibility of Fortnite collaborating with Pokémon is high mainly thanks to the previous crossover collaborations of Epic Games. Epic Games has added items and skins to Fortnite based on comic book and movie franchises such as Marvel, DC Comics and Star Wars.

  • Furthermore, Fortnite has also featured the massively popular anime Naruto and Dragon Ball in the game. 

  • The Dragon Ball collab from Chapter 3 Season 3 went viral. Given that Pokémon is just as popular, a crossover is long overdue.

A fan-made trailer created and edited by Twitter user @Feraalsy has been doing the rounds among the Fortnite gaming community.

  • The trailer offers an exciting look at how a possible collaboration between Pokémon and Fortnite would look like.

Deciphering all the clues out there, it is clear that Epic Games is definitely interested in the Pokémon brand. Despite no official confirmation or direct hints from the developers of Fortnite, players cannot contain their excitement for the arrival of Pokémon-based characters, items and skins to the world of Fortnite.
