G-Dragon has signed with Galaxy Corporation after officially parting ways with his longtime agency, YG Entertainment. After being acquitted of his drug-related charges, the Big Bang member’s new agency held a press conference at the JW Marriott Hotel to represent the solo artist, confirm the exclusive contract, and reveal his plans.
Galaxy Corporation Director Talks About G-Dragon’s Signing
Galaxy Corporation director Jo Sung-hae officially announced G-Dragon’s exclusive contract with the company on Thursday, December 21.
He said (via All Kpop) that the press conference was meant as a preparation step for the artist to return and face the public after being involved in a huge drug scandal. Sung-hae stressed that justice prevailed after the King of K-pop was acquitted and found not guilty.
However, the rampant accusations, speculations, and rumors affected the 35-year-old, and suffered through difficult times. That said, he asked everyone to avoid asking G-Dragon anything about the drug issue to reclaim his normal life.
Despite proving his innocence, Sung-hae revealed that malicious comments still target G-Dragon. So, he demands all the negative posts about him online, along with the comments, to be deleted by December 28. If not, they will be subject to severe legal repercussions.
Regarding the delayed announcement, Sung-hae understood it would be nice to announce the partnership immediately. However, they were waiting for YG Entertainment to release its official statement about G-Dragon’s exit. He also thanked the label, as the rapper wouldn’t be what he is today without them.
Jo Sung-hae Reveals G-Dragon’s Plans
Meanwhile, G-Dragon didn’t attend the press conference due to his schedule, but Jo Sung-hae claimed the singer-songwriter planned to meet his fans in person in the new year.
“Kwon Ji-yong is eagerly anticipating this event,” he said.
He also read the letter the record producer penned, revealing the musician’s plans to establish a foundation to help eradicate illegal drugs from South Korea. The org will address different societal issues, like illicit drugs, unfairness, and injustice. It will also aim to provide opportunities for artists who lack resources and support to create a future generation of artists like himself.
In 2024, he wants to fulfill his duties as an artist and a member of society by making a major comeback and contributions.
“I believe that when the collective will and actions of many people come together, change is possible,” he wrote.
He’s also set to make his first donation to the foundation using his fandom’s name, VIPs.
G-Dragon wants to start anew after facing what seems to be the biggest scandal in his life and career. He has already proven his innocence, so he wants to take things further by helping the community and his fellow artists. He also hints at his much-awaited comeback, and hopefully, everything will be fine as he graces the stage again and faces the world.
