Sucker Punch Productions has been quiet for some time now, and it’s got fans thinking: will there be a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima? The action-adventure game released in 2020 has players take on the role of a Samurai. A game with an open-world setting where you play as a Samurai? I mean, can it honestly get any better than that? If you’ve already finished the game, you may find yourself asking for more. Although these are all just rumors, for now, several things hint at Sucker Punch working on Ghost of Tsushima 2. Here’s everything we know about the potential sequel to the hit 2020 stealth game. Stay with us!

Are we getting a Ghost of Tsushima 2?

Even though Sucker Punch Productions hasn’t announced anything remotely close to Ghost of Tsushima 2, eagle-eyed gamers noticed things that hint at a potential sequel. One of the main details we should not ignore is that Sucker Punch Productions is currently working on an unannounced project.

  • Ghost of Tsushima was a commercial success at launch. As of July 2022, the game has sold over 10 million copies across the PlayStation consoles. But one of its most remarkable feats occurred around the launch date. In the first three days of its release date, Ghost of Tsushima sold nearly 3 million units
  • A film is also in development, which means the hype has never died down for Ghost of Tsushima. According to PlayStation Blog, Chad Stahelski will be helming the production of the game’s film adaptation. For those unfamiliar with Stahelski’s work, he is the director of the John Wick franchise. With that, we can only deduce that the Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation will not stray too far from its source material

  • Once the film is released, there’s no doubt that a new generation of Ghost of Tsushima fans will want to play the game. What better way to capitalize on the hype and excitement than to release a sequel? Plus, Sony’s exclusive titles seem to be doing well in terms of sequels. Examples of this are Horizon Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarok, both of which are stand-out releases this year

How the rumors came to life

Sucker Punch Productions tried to be sneaky with a job listing they posted a while back. Alas, nothing ever gets past gamers who are ultimately fans of the successful projects this team has released. With no news on what Sucker Punch has planned next, the gaming community was abuzz over a job listing.

  • In the job listing, the official description states that Sucker Punch Productions is looking for a Senior Encounter Designer. Of course, this is common for any video game company looking for a new addition to their team. However, what made people start hoping for a Ghost of Tsushima 2 was the specifics of the listing

  • According to the job listing for Senior Encounter Designer, the company was looking for someone who has previously worked on an action or stealth game. In addition to someone with experience in these genres, they want someone experienced in melee combat and level design. Right off the bat, the alarms went off for gamers as they connected two and two… there’s a high chance Sucker Punch Productions is working on a second Ghost of Tsushima game!

Patience is a virtue

Still, we have yet to get an official announcement from Sucker Punch Productions. The only thing we can do for now is to wait until they start revealing more about the unnamed project they are working on at the moment. We’re confident that a Ghost of Tsushima 2 is in the works. Besides, Sucker Punch isn’t a stranger to creating sequels for their games, either. Infamous has released three main games so far, similar to the Sly Cooper series, which already has four games.
