ChatGPT Vs Bard AI – What are they to begin with?
Now for the uninitiated, ChatGPT is an Artificial Intelligence that is a language model. Basing itself on years of training to predict, respond, and answer the user’s questions.
In some sense, ChatGPT is a language assistant. Developed by OpenAi, ChatGPT will soon become part of Microsoft Bing’s search engine system.
How Google had to keep up with the competition, through Bard
- With the onset of such a huge rush by ChatGPT being made available to users globally, the world has been taken by its storm. Ever since OpenAI launched its AI module in November, it has become an internet sensation.
- Of course, with Microsoft’s plan to integrate the ChatGPT further into the search engine modules of Bing, it makes sense for Google to keep up with the global competition.
The basic functioning of this AI assistance is that – to aid the user. And the term language is very broadly used in these contents. Primarily because, unlike different AI, the purpose of ChatGPT or Google’s Bard AI is to be a language model. In the sense that, it can communicate and converse using a certain language with the user.
What is Google Bard AI?
Google CEO Sundar Pichai pitched this topic in Twitter. Where he introduced Google Bard – an AI system that will go toe-to-toe with ChatGPT. Google Bard will base itself on LaMDA which translates to Language Model for Dialogue Application.
That’s a simple name for an otherwise complex system that integrates itself with the existing language models of human socio-cultural systems. And then produces language which feels human.
ChatGPT Vs Bard – What’s the difference?
Now although both are AI systems based on Language Models of Dialogue Interaction, they do differ in some aspects. Although the differences are neigh in comparison to the similarities.
- Google Bard AI will work with LaMDA to combine the language models trained to the AI system with the existing web information. The entire winning point of ChatGPT Vs Bard at this point seems to lie on this exactly.
- ChatGPT uses a model called GPT-3.5. And this model does not allow it to access the web. All the answers that ChatGPT comes up with, are actually based on the information trained to it. Which ended back in 2021. That’s why users may have witnessed the AI system failing to provide up-to-date information on current trends.
Yet to combat this drawback, Microsoft has promised to use GPT-4.0 for their Bing integration. When compiled, Bing will have its own AI system (ChatGPT) capable of producing real time information based on the information found on the internet.
ChatBot vs Search Engine
The primary difference so far is that ChatGPT is a chatbot. Which will be incorporated as a search engine assistant to Bing later sometime. But it will also continue being a Chatbot.
So far, Google’s plan with Bard is full integration with the Google Search Engine. As it stands, Bard will only be a ChatBot for certain trusted users during its beta phase.
The greatest question for ChatGPT and Google Bard is something different altogether
The ultimate question will come down to how much these AI systems can provide information to the greatest degree of transparency. In an age where information is everything, we cannot and should not tolerate the ChatGPT Vs Bard debate overlooking a certain fundamental problem.
The problem of these AI systems filtering information to fit the political bias of those who run it.
Can we truly secure an independent, all-information-sharing, unbiased, impartial AI system?
Concluding
Now although this feels immediately innovative, it helps to note that system for this line of functioning has been in work for a long time. Perhaps in the future, virtual assistants like Cortana (Microsoft), Alexa (amazon), and Google Assistant (you named it) will be considered the ancestors of A.I systems assistants.
