HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Night, a Game of Thrones prequel series based on one of Martin’s characters, Sir Duncan the Tall, has been confirmed by HBO. With Vince Gerardis, Ryan Condal, and Ira Parker, Martin will produce the new show. In the novels, Ser Duncan the Tall was the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard before Barrister Selmy, and he was a close personal friend of Aegon Targaryen V. He was the focus of numerous songs and stories, and he is a part of the rich lore that supports the popular television series.

Another figure from George R.R. Martin’s expansive Westeros universe will be the subject of a new Game of Thrones prequel series that HBO will release on its streaming platform.

- Given the immense popularity of the original series and the consistently expanding audience for House of the Dragon, the second season of which is anticipated in the summer of 2024, any series set in the Game of Thrones universe is sure to be a hit.
- There is opportunity for more series set in the same universe since there is plenty of time between seasons of existing projects.
