Barbie Ferreira announces on her Instagram that she is no longer returning to Euphoria for Season 3
Through a story post, Barbie Ferreira has revealed that she won’t be back on Euphoria for the HBO show’s third season. In a post uploaded to her Instagram Story, Ferreira wrote:
“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”
Along with her message, Ferreira posted an artwork made by fellow cast member Hunter Schafer. For Euphoria fans, they’ll recognize Schafer as the actress playing Jules Vaughn, one of the series’ main characters.
At first, fans were surprised to hear of the news that Ferreira is quitting Euphoria. But others were quick to point out that Kat’s character in the show was slowly being pushed to the side. This was more than evident especially in the second season.
Although Kat was starting to feel more comfortable and confident with her sexuality, the show decided that her storyline wasn’t as important as others. This left fans confused with where they were going with Kat’s character. Furthermore, rumors about Ferreira having a feud with show creator Sam Levinson resurfaced.
Rumors have been flying around about on-set tension between Barbie Ferreira and Sam Levinson since Season 2
Because Kat’s character was pushed aside for the second season, fans started speculating that there were problems on the set of Euphoria. Rumors about tension between Sam Levinson and Barbie Ferreira didn’t help these claims.
However, Ferreira had the chance to shut down these rumors when she had an interview with Insider last March. According to Ferreira, the fans’ baseless speculations were because of their passion for the show.
“I’ve seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue, and some of it’s kind of like mundane little things,” Ferreira remarked. Additionally, HBO denied the rumors of Ferreira storming off of set.
Despite her departure from the hit show, things have been looking up for Ferreira and her acting character. One of her projects include appearing on Jordan Peele’s newest film Nope. We’re more than excited to see Ferreira in future projects.
Euphoria has been renewed for a third season. The show will still keep Zendaya on board as the ratings for the show keep going nowhere but up.
What do you think about Barbie Ferreira leaving Euphoria? What are your theories on how the show will address her departure? And do you think that the rumors about her feud between Sam Levinson are untrue? We would love to hear your thoughts.
