Of course, even if the setting in Hogwarts Legacy happened years ago before Harry and his friends’ era, the choosing of Houses remains one of the most exciting parts. If you have a choice of what House to join, can you actually get into it? How to be a Gryffindor, or part of the other Houses, here’s a guide for you. An explanation of how you can choose your House in Hogwarts Legacy and dictate the Sorting Hat where to put you, Wizards!
How the Sorting Hat and sorting works
If you love Harry Potter, pretty sure you know the Four Houses. If not, the Houses include Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. And how would you know which House would be perfect for you to belong to? Exactly, we introduce you to the Sorting Hat.
- Hogwarts certainly is full of magic, to the extent that a hat gets to assess where you would belong. Anyway, do know that Houses do not define you, just look at Hermione Granger from the film and book series. She may be one of the most intelligent, yet she belongs to the Gryffindor House.
- You can influence the Sorting Hat’s decision, that’s for sure. You have two options to do that: answer an in-game quiz or simply link your Harry Potter Fan Club and WB Games accounts (which would offer a more personal take on which House fits you).
- Now, you arrived in the Hogwarts Legacy. Your adventure starts after the tutorial, and with the Sorting Ceremony held in the Great Hall. It would be your time to be to know which House you would go to, so head in front. Professor Weasley places the Sorting Hat on your head, and here’s how you can choose your preferred House.
How to be a Gryffindor in Hogwarts Legacy
You better know what the Sorting Hat would ask you as your answers would affect where it would bring you. However, for the first question, you can answer whichever you want, this wouldn’t count. The Sorting Hat would say, “You come here with preferences and preconceptions — certain expectations.” You may choose your answer from the following:

- I can’t wait to start classes.
- I can’t wait to explore.
- Now, this is where it gets tricky. Say, you want to be part of the Gryffindor House in Hogwarts Legacy, right? Here’s what the Sorting Hat question would be, “Hmm. I wonder. Hmm. I detect something in you. A certain sense of — hmm — what is it?” Your answer here would greatly affect the House you’ll be in. So if you prefer to be in Gryffindor, check the answers below to know how.
- Daring. (Gryffindor)
- Curiosity. (Ravenclaw)
- Loyalty. (Hufflepuff)
- Ambition. (Slytherin)
- Hmm, if you chose Gryffindor at first, and maybe changed your mind, it would still be possible to change it. Given that you have not linked your HP Fan Club and WB Games accounts, changing Houses would be possible. One more chance to change House, and it would be the final decision.
House differences
Once you’ve selected and sorted into your Hogwarts House, there may be a few changes along the way. These changes would not affect the main story, so don’t worry about that. Each House represents a color, Gryffindor’s red, Hufflepuff’s yellow, Ravenclaw’s blue, and Slytherin’s green.
- These colors can be seen in each of the common rooms and clothing. Well, you may consider that if you want a specific color to wear. There’s not much known about the differences between the Four Houses in Hogwarts Legacy. Let’s just jump on what the Houses are known for then.
- Gryffindor is known to be courageous and would be the House who would choose the right things at any time, at any cost. The Hufflepuff House has warm-hearted, patient, loyal, and the most humble wizards and witches in Hogwarts. Third, the Ravenclaw House holds wit, intelligence, and problem solvers in Hogwarts, and possibly the masters of spells. Lastly, Slytherin would be the ambitious team, the most cunning, and their success would be their goal at all times.
