Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated releases this year. However, an announcement last December made players on last-gen consoles feel slightly disappointed. According to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, they were delaying the game’s release on last-gen consoles. So if you’re gaming on the Nintendo Switch and you were waiting for Hogwarts Legacy, it will release at a later date. Stay with us to know about the release date for Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch and anything new the delay will be bringing.
New release date for Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch
This isn’t the first time Hogwarts Legacy has faced a delay. Back then, it was delayed for all platforms. The latest delay only affected last-gen consoles: the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
- For players on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, they won’t be facing any delays. Hogwarts Legacy will still launch on February 10, with Early Access still going to be available for players on these platforms.

- The game was supposed to launch on all platforms at the same time. However, it seems the team behind the highly anticipated open-world Harry Potter game is trying to avoid a Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco.
- When CD Projekt RED released the game, it faced a lot of issues when players tried to run it on older consoles. It took a while for the devs to recover from the whole problem, so it’s only understandable if Avalanche Software is ironing out all the creases before they release their ambitious project.

With all that being said, Hogwarts Legacy will release in July on the Nintendo Switch. This makes the Switch the last platform to receive the game. Compared to the PS4 and Xbox One, the Switch underperforms in a lot of areas. Because of this, Avalanche Software may need more time smoothing out all the creases for the game’s Switch release.
Will there be new content for the Switch?
Most gamers are wondering whether they will be bringing something new for the Nintendo Switch version. However, the delay looks like it’s happening so Avalanche can ensure the game is stable on the console. There won’t be any new content for Switch players to enjoy aside from the game itself.
The Early Access period will also be only for players who purchased the game for current-gen consoles. We don’t know for sure whether Avalanche will compensate last-gen players for the delay, but fingers crossed that they do just that.

Anything new appearing in the delayed versions of Hogwarts Legacy would most likely have something to do with graphics and performance. Hopefully, the game runs seamlessly on older consoles so the experience will be enjoyable for everyone.
