How to Join E-Palarong Pambansa - Featured

Esports is alive and thriving in the Philippines, and this is highlighted now that registrations for the E-Palarong Pambansa are open. Although the registrations were initially closing on June 2, 2023, the demand from the gaming community in the country prompted organizers to extend the dates. If your team is interested in participating in the E-Palarong Pambansa, here’s all you need to know, including how to join.

What is E-Palarong Pambansa in the Philippines?

E-Palarong Pambansa is a step in the right direction of promoting Esports in the Philippines. It aims to provide a platform for aspiring Filipino players who want to make it big in the Esports scene someday. From the name itself, this new event takes on a similar format to the Palarong Pambansa. The only difference is that the sports in the E-Palarong Pambansa are popular online games such as Valorant, Mobile Legends, and Call of Duty Mobile.

The National Youth Commission collaborates with the ILO Esports organization to make E-Palarong Pambansa happen. According to the event’s official website, they want to achieve many things:

  • Officially create a thriving Esports environment in the Philippines. Through the launch of this event, they can promote equal opportunities for interested Filipinos.
  • Reduce the stigma around playing video games. The launch of E-Palarong Pambansa can promote Esports as a holistic activity.
  • Although Esports organizations from different countries provide stable financial opportunities for their players, those in the Philippines still have funding issues. The E-Palarong Pambansa can help solve this problem faced by many organizations in the Philippines.
  • The organizers believe launching this movement can prompt support and recognition for the Esports scene. This will allow stakeholders to invest in the Esports industry in the Philippines.

What games are part of the E-Palarong Pambansa?

There will be a total of five games players can compete in. Three games are exclusive to mobile gamers, while the other two are on PC. At the moment, these are also the most popular multiplayer games in the Philippines:

  • League of Legends
  • Valorant

  • League of Legends Wild Rift
  • Call of Duty Mobile
  • Mobile Legends

E-Palarong Pambansa also conducted a search for shoutcasters in the different games part of the event. Although the Philippines has no shortage of shoutcasters (we’re looking at you, Vill & Tayrawr!), this gives up-and-coming shoutcasters a chance to shine in their craft.

Format of the event

There will be three stages in the E-Palarong Pambansa. If you are interested in watching tournaments for games like Dota 2 or League of Legends, then you’re familiar with this format. For the uninitiated, the three stages in the E-Palarong Pambansa are as follows:

  • Qualifiers Stage
  • Group Stage
  • Playoffs Stage

The Qualifiers Stage is set to begin on June 6, with four single elimination brackets held once every week.
