Every year, IEM Katowice features the best professional CSGO teams the world has to offer. It’s one of the most exciting eSports tournaments to watch, filled with drama and high-stakes. Winners of the tournament will share in a $1 million prize pool. Eight teams have already qualified to the main stage, while 16 teams will battle it out in the play-ins to determine who advances.

Qualified Teams

Eight teams await those who survive the play-ins. These teams have proven themselves in the past by ranking highly in previous majors. The teams are:

G2 Gambit
Heroic Natus Vincere
Team Liquid FURIA
Virtus Pro Vitality

The Play-Ins

Other participants will have to prove themselves by eliminating the competition. From the 16 teams in the play-ins, only eight will advance to the tournament proper. Many fans are excited about this stage as there are some popular team names and past major winners in it.

  • Teams will then fight in best-of-3 matches in a more traditional format. Those who lose twice will be out of the tournament. From there, the tournament will move to the group stage to determine which six teams advance to the playoffs.
