It has been more than a year since Invincible Season 1 concluded with Omni-Man leaving Earth. Before fleeing, he managed to severely inflict damage to his son, Mark Grayson a.k.a. Invincible, leaving the teenage superhero for dead.

The R-rated animated superhero series ‘Invincible’ is from the comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead). The story revolved around the Superman-equivalent of the show, Omni-Man, alongside his son, Mark (Invincible), and other superheroes known as “The Guardians of the Globe”.

After a successful debut on Amazon Prime, the show was reported to be renewed for not just one, but two seasons – Season 2 and 3. The news was shared on Twitter by Kirkman and the voice actor of Invincible, Steve Yeun.

INVINCIBLE SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE

According to sources, season 2 won’t be out anytime this year, contradicting the predicted release date rumored last year. But, according to a speculated release date by releases.com and techradar.com, Invincible Season 2 could potentially be out by early or first quarter of 2023.

Given that the main cast of the show has already begun recording their lines in January of this year. Top that with the confirmation of the show’s head writer, Simon Racioppa, that the second season is already deep in development.

“We’re working very hard on it. Basically, every day Robert [Kirkman, Invincible’s co-creator] is working on it, I’m working on it. We’re talking about it, and we are well in on the process. We’ve been working on it longer than I think people are aware, but it takes a while. It’s a big show.”

PLOT AND CHARACTERS

There has been no official story plot shared with us by the creators and the cast yet. But, in a teaser by the official Twitter account of Invincible, they have probably hinted about a thing or two in regards to the possible plot of the next seasons.

Those who have read the comics have seen that this franchise has a similar “Multiverse” saga similar to what Marvel Cinematic Universe is doing now. We won’t be dwelling too much about this one but there will surely be a lot of Mark Grayson variants if this happens.

Meanwhile, Nolan Grayson or Omni-Man (voiced by J.K. Simmons) is still out there and could return to Earth anytime soon. Season 1 proved that there is absolutely no one that can come on par with Omni-Man. Although, nobody is that invulnerable if a group of superheroes comes at him all at once. With that, we are sure that the current “Guardians of the Globe” will be returning to Season 2 as well as other side characters. We shall be expecting these characters to resurface in the coming seasons:

  • Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson
  • Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennett
  • Gillian Jacobs as Samantha Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve
  • Andrew Rannells as William Clockwell
  • Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman
  • Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Sloan/Rex Splode
  • Ross Marquand as Rudy Conners, Kursk and Bi-Plane
  • Mark Hamill as Art Rosenbaum
  • Khary Payton as Markus Grimshaw/Black Samson
  • Malese Jow as Kate Cha/Dupli-Kate
  • Grey Griffin as Shrinking Rae and Amanda (Monster Girl’s human form)
  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Monster Girl/the Mauler Twins
  • Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien
  • Mahershala Ali as Titan
  • Michael Dorn as Battle Beast and Thokk

Aside from the names mentioned, Viltrumites may enter the scene in Season 2 as well as the mysterious Sequids from Mars.
