Wednesday could be moved to Amazon Prime

As massive of a hit as Tim Burton’s ‘Wednesday’ is, Netflix still can’t seem to catch a break. According to various reports, Netflix’s most recent breakthrough might end up in the hands of one of its competitors, Amazon Prime Video. After an enormous $8.5 Billion deal to acquire Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) last year, Jeff Bezos and Amazon are already on the verge of securing MGM products. Wednesday may be a Netflix original but MGM Television is also one of the studios involved in the production of the hit comedy-horror series. That being said, what is really in store for Wednesday Addams? Will she continue her journey on Netflix or will she find a new home on Amazon?

If Amazon Prime decides to make MGM titles exclusive to their platform, it’s game over for Netflix.

No word has come out yet if Jeff Bezos has already given an ultimatum to exclusively tie any MGM shows or movies to Amazon Prime. After a multi-billion takeover of the company, Amazon might dance away with another huge steal by taking the rights to Wednesday.

However, there is still hope for Netflix. The popular streaming platform may engage in a deal wherein they get to keep the latest rendition of Wednesday Addams. Plus, it is also reported that Bezos has no plans to make lock MGM shows as of now. In addition to all of that, Amazon is also reportedly open to “licensing” MGM content instead of putting them as Amazon-exclusive.

Is there a Wednesday Season 2?

Despite being Netflix’s greatest smash hit by becoming the platform’s most-watched English language program in its first week, an announcement for a second season is yet to be announced. Although, however, due to insistent popular demand, Jenna Ortega might return to the screen as Wednesday Addams.

Producers of the show have openly expressed their plans to look for filming sites and additional writers to create the continuation of Wednesday’s storyline after an epic season 1. Obviously, Jenna Ortega will still portray the princess of darkness, Wednesday. She will be joined by Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez Addams (Luis Guzman), Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez), and Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen). Other characters who also might return for the sequel are Enid Sinclaire (Emma Myers), Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), and Eugene Ottinger (Moosa Mostafa).
