The track is part of Janell Monáe’s upcoming album aptly titled The Age of Pleasure.

Lipstick Lover happens to be the album’s lead single and Janelle Monáe has hit it out of the park with a sensual mood. The video underlines the tone with a lot of explicit nudity, sex and partying. The artist herself bares it all as she appears topless in a lot of shots. While nudity in the video is blurred throughout, Janelle Monáe’s breasts still punctuate her soaking wet t-shirts. Other extras in the song also wear revealing outfits and sometimes no clothes as they strut their bodies in the sun.

Despite the amount of explicit content in it, the visuals still don’t feel sleazy to the viewer. Janelle Monáe herself has directed this music video alongside Alan Ferguson. The R&B singer clearly adores women at their natural finest and their imperfections.

The Age of Pleasure album marks Janelle Monáe’s first studio album since Dirty Computer which was released five years ago in 2018. The previous album received multiple Grammy nominations.
