Ever since Jujutsu Kaisen 0 made its way into the hearts of anime fans worldwide with its theatrical release, it has upped itself to the tiers achieved by Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 adapted the story of Yuji Itadori, a student who ends up becoming the vessel to one of the most colossal curses in the Jujutsu world. Adapted from the Manga of the same name by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is all set to premiere in 2023 and should start with Gojo’s Past arc.

The Looming Questions

The first season of the highly acclaimed Shonen anime quickly made its way into the anime fandom which seemingly gives the impression that the Shonen genre is really the quickest way to make it to a broader audience. An array of viable questions loom over the fans’ heads that deprive them of their sleep. “Where is Yuta“, “How did Gojo master his limitless abilities”, “What’s with the relationship between Geto and Gojo” are amongst the few at the top of the charts. How much of these will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 finally answer?

This Saturday, Jujutsu Kaisen’s official Twitter account released what’s the first visual for  Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. The visual features Gojo Satoru and Suguru Geto and Shoko Leiri. One may recall Geto from his appearance as the primary antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Film. Leiri is the Jujutsu High doctor, the one who tended to Itadori’s dead body.

What will Season 2 be about?

The visual teases the next arc that season 2 will adapt. Gojo’s Past arc will feature Suguru and Gojo as they rescue Star Plasma Vessel to Master Tengen amidst the conspiracies of hideous curse users. You should look ahead to see how Gojo developed his powers and mastered the way to maintain his limitless eternity space at all times and a plethora of other things.

The Star Plasma Vessel (Contains Minor Spoilers as Summary)

Expect not to see Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara for a while. Given that this arc will follow the Star Plasma Vessel.

  • Master Tengen, who you may recall from season 1, is the immortal Jujutsu sorcerer. The curse technique of Master Tengen is immortality, and it forces its user (Tengen Sama) to change their body every 500 years.
  • Master Tengen hence must merge with a star plasma vessel. The Star Plasma Vessel is also another person compatible with the Immortality curse technique.
  • The technique is such that it forces the user to evolve into a deranged curse state and will lose their will and consciousness to the new monster that emerges in their stead at a certain age.

Gojo’s past arc is especially important given that after this what will follow is the manga’s greatest arc ever. The Shibuya Incident arc.

Concluding

By no means is Jujutsu Kaisen heading down from a fight. The fight is for Mappa, and the fight is to produce a season 2 that will live to the legacy of its predecessor. Expect not to see Yuta from Film zero anytime soon. (Or the prequel story of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 which the film is an adaptation of, to be precise).

The first cour of season 2 will surely adapt Gojo’s past arc. What one should look out for, however, is the relationship between Gojo and Geto. Mappa has done this exceptionally well given the fact that the way Jujutsu Kaisen 0 ended, people have been curious. They are curious as to what exactly is the bond between these two who used to be best friends.

Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen starts in 2023, more details should come out soon after Sunday’s Special Programme.
