Kai Sotto Commits for the 2022 NBA Draft
It has been a shocking moment for Filipinos when the young big man decided to hang his rafters in the NBL (Australia) and decided to enter the 2022 NBA draft. If he ever gets picked up by any team, Kai Sotto will be the first pure Filipino to be ever drafted in the NBA.
With his great basketball physique and skill, Sotto definitely has a legit chance of setting foot in the league. He also hopes to follow the footsteps of fellow Filipino-blooded basketball players like Jordan Clarkson (Utah Jazz) and Jalen Green (Houston Rockets).
In the workout video, Kai is already showing great promise as an athlete. Aside from being extremely tall, Kai prides himself in being quick and agile, a rare attribute for guys his size. Additionally, Sotto is proving that he is prepared for the NBA, not just physically, but also mentally.

Aside from working out with the Kings, another great thing took place in Sacramento. A Filipino basketball legend and no the Stockton Kings (G-League) assistant coach, Jimmy Alapag, shared a wondrous moment with Kai Sotto on the court.
“Great to see Kai here in Sacramento! Best of luck on your journey to the NBA! The entire country and I are rooting for you!! Keep working,” Alapag excitedly shared on Instagram earlier.
Alapag is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and Pilipinas Gilas legend and is a future Hall-of-Famer. Nicknamed “The Mighty Mouse”, Alapag is one of the best Asian point guards to ever play the sport of basketball.
THE 2022 NBA DRAFT
The 2022 NBA draft will take place next week, June 24, 2022, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Aside from the Sacramento Kings, the 20-year-old Filipino sensation also had previous workouts with Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks. Before the draft, Sotto will also meet with Orlando Magic and New York Knicks for a final workout.
With Kai now being the talk of the town, he gradually increased his draft stock. Before, he was not even part of the top 100 draft prospects entering this year’s draft. Although he is already getting better each day, Kai Sotto is still projected to get drafted late in the 2nd round.
