Kevin Porter Jr. arrested for assault of WNBA girlfriend

LOOK: Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. just got arrested in New York City after being accused of assault and domestic violence.

Porter Jr.’s girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, called 911 at 6:45 in the morning and reported that she was assaulted by the NBA star. The call was made from the Millennium Hilton Hotel in New York. Shortly after, the cops responded and arrested KPJ.

What happened?

After an initial investigation, an NYPD spokesperson told ABC News that “Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain in her neck. A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck.”

After the incident, the victim was taken to the hospital. According to reports, she and the assailant, Kevin Porter Jr., got into a heated altercation. The reports also revealed that Godrezick was upset with the Houston Rockets star after he returned late at night to the hotel they were staying at. As a result, she locked the doors and barred Porter Jr. from entering. But, a few moments later, KPJ requested assistance from the hotel management and eventually unlocked the door. Once he was able to enter the room, KPJ quickly started beating up and strangling Gondrezick. This resulted in the woman’s sustained injuries.

After being booked by authorities, Kevin Porter Jr. received a threat and warning from Kysre Godrezick’s sister

Porter Jr., 23, is known as a talented NBA player playing for the Houston Rockets. Meanwhile, his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick is also a professional basketball player. Godrezick, 26, was a former WNBA player who suited up for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. However, she hasn’t played in the league since being waived in 2022. The two have been together since last year. But, with the current situation, the relationship seems to be over. Because of the criminal charges, Kysre Gondrezick’s sister had some feisty words for Porter Jr. She posted threats on her Instagram story, insinuating that they would have their revenge.

Will Kevin Porter Jr. be suspended by the NBA?

Right now, the NBA is also making its own investigation on the current Kevin Porter Jr. case. Under the terms of the league’s domestic violence policy, Commissioner Adam Silver has the power to place Porter on administrative leave with pay for “a reasonable period of time.” If found guilty and convicted, the commissioner can fine, suspend, dismiss, or disqualify KPJ from any further association with the NBA and its team. That being said, there’s a great chance that not only will Porter Jr. be suspended, but he may even be rejected by the league. However, as long as no there is no conclusion yet, the Houston Rockets (KPJ’s team) will not be allowed to make their own move such as suspending the NBA player.

Basketball community reacts to Kevin Porter Jr.’s assault and domestic violence case

It did not take long for the internet to go nuts over Kevin Porter Jr. allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Kyrse Gondrezick. Even Miles Bridges, another NBA star who faced felony charges after assaulting his baby mama, is being brought up in the discussion.
