Kojima already has “ideas in mind” for his next project that’d make you crap your pants

Hideo Kojima

I know, the headline… is weird. But those are the exact words Kojima used to describe his future project. In an interview with BAFTA, Hideo Kojima talked about his previous works, Death Stranding and of course, what he has in mind for his future title.

Hideo Kojima will receive BAFTA’s highest honor, the Fellowship for his brilliance and creativity in the field of video games.

Talking about the legendary P.T. demo, Kojima describes how they used forbidden techniques to increase fear in the demo. “It was a one-off thing, so we cannot reuse that method again,” Kojima explains.

P.T. is still one of the most mysterious demos the video game industry has ever seen. Even today, people are going back to experience the terror and stumbling upon new things they haven’t noticed before.

Kojima says, “P.T. ended as just an experiment, but I would like to make another horror game someday. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn’t just make you pee your pants, but crap them. I already have ideas in mind.”

It isn’t just us who feel chills down the spine while exploring the corridors of P.T. Kojima himself is easily frightened and hence, has confidence that it’s possible for him and his team to work on something more terrifying.

Talking about Death Stranding Kojima explains how his made-up genre of “social strand system” games won’t last long. Of course, we knew that. And according to his explanation, he did not create it for that purpose either.

He says, “I’m not sure whether another delivery game will be made, but I anticipate that the ‘asynchronous connection elements’ of Death Stranding’s online elements will influence a lot of creators and marketing-led titles.”

In the full interview, Kojima explains how movies have inspired him throughout the years, Metal Gear games, his previous games and how things have advanced.
