Cannabis has been made legal in South Korea for medication purposes, not for recreation. In addition, only a prescribed amount is allowed for someone who is in need of the plant. According to Korean Laws, a person caught smoking, using, or distributing cannabis can serve up to five years in prison (if proven guilty) as well as face a fine of 50 million won, about $42,500 USD. Even if a South Korean native uses cannabis in a place where it is legal (i.e. Canada), they are still subject to prosecution in their home country. In Yoo Ah In’s case, he may have acquired the marijuana in the U.S., but as the laws in his country go, they’re allowed to search him.

In light of the recent controversy surrounding the actor, a lot of his projects are in danger of being canceled.

Hellbound Season 2 was planned to begin filming in June of this year. All thanks to the first season’s success in 2021. Additionally, his shows like Netflix’ “The Match” and movies “Hi.5” and “Goodbye Earth” were all slated to come out this year. Because of his current case, the production is still put on hold.
