LoL Caster CaptainFlowers Will Not Commentate Worlds 2021

Yesterday, sad news beckoned us all. One of the iconic casters of the League Champion Series, CaptainFlowers made the announcement. He will not be returning to join the broadcast team slated for the 2021 League of Legends World Champion.

Clayton ‘CaptainFlowes’ Raines has been with the League of Champion Series since 2017. He soon became popular as the “Rap God” for LoL esports. In the past, he has done some very big gigs international tournaments; notably the “Invictus Gaming’s 2018 Worlds victory and KT Rolster’s insane base race that same tournament”.

The World Championship is only a month away, and CaptainFlowers took to Twitter on 6th September 2021 to announce that he will miss World Championship due to unavoidable health issues.

Clayton further made statements said that “Worlds is an all-encompassing event when you’re working it and it lasts for over a month. It undoes all your routines, plans, and habits. The schedule usually flips everything upside down and it’s hard to have much of a life outside of Worlds. These changes are harder for some people than others, and I’ve always been one of the people who don’t adapt well. Even before everything shut down in 2020, international events were largely remote for on-air talent and it’s always been tough on me.”

Liquipedia reported that CaptainFlowers has been on the team of the official broadcast for the past four World Championship. CaptainFlowers explained that with doing tons of international tournaments, his overall health was severely affected:

“I struggle a lot with the upside-down schedule and just feeling super exhausted all the time. That bleeds over even after the event concludes, and I end up in a downward spiral of an increasingly self-destructive mental state. With the current state of everything in the world, that only gets more extreme. I truly believe that if I do Worlds this year it will leave me in a really bad place in terms of being able to take care of myself and move forward with my own goals afterward.”

However, he made his future plans vocal by saying that “I’ll keep streaming and making my content”. Additionally, he said that he will stream and watch his viewing of the World Championship, 2021 on his own Twitch Channel.
