36-year-old Republican Representative Lauren Boebert broke the news this week that she is going to become a grandmother in April. She said she was greatly excited for her 17-year-old son to have a baby, which will make her a “gigi.”
Speaking at an event that was hosted by Moms For America, a conservative group, she said, “So I’m going to tell you all for the first time in a public setting, that not only am I a mom of four boys but come April I will be a gigi to a brand new grandson. And Jason and I are so excited to welcome this new life into our family.”

Lauren Boebert attended a breakfast event at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, at which she was awarded the title of “Mother of Influence.” She said that her son had pointed out to her that he too had made her mother a grandmother at 36, hence suggesting that it was pretty much a “hereditary” thing.
Lauren Boebert’s stance on abortion laws
Boebert spoke highly of the values that the “rural conservative communities” hold regarding teen pregnancies. She has also expressed her appreciation for the higher rates of teen pregnancies, stating that the numbers are such “because we value the preciousness of life.”
Boebert is opposed to abortion laws and said during the conference that she and her husband were worried whether their son and his girlfriend would “choose life….And they did.” She also added that they were proud of the kids for making that “sacrifice” from a very “selfless” position.
Lauren Boebert’s views on having children before marriage
Lauren Boebert confirmed that her son and his girlfriend were not in a marital relationship, but declined to reveal her son’s girlfriend’s age. She has, however, said that she is over the age of 14. It is to be noted that the age of consent in Colorado is 17, however, exceptions allow consensual sex between unmarried partners when they are within four years of the same age.
Boebert has commented that she and her husband have planned to support the young couple as much as they can. She stated that “It’s something Jayson and I did not have–family that could step in and help us….We want them to have everything possible for the baby and for themselves.”

Lauren Boebert’s son, Tyler, will soon graduate from high school. He is also presently working at a retail tire store. Claiming to be extremely proud of her son, Lauren Boebert said, “I am just very proud of both of them for being responsible for their situation. This is a huge responsibility they are taking on. They made the right choice.” She further added that “Nothing was forced on them. This is a decision they made on their own.”
The Republican Representative has also confirmed that she does not intend to alter her political position of opposing the inclusion of sex education in schools, something that critics heavily urged her to do.
