Poppy Playtime, an indie horror sensation, is a big hit on streaming services. Now, it looks like the terrifying story will be adapted for the big screen – Poppy Playtime: The Movie!

As reported by Deadline, Studio71 has joined forces with Poppy Playtime creator MOB Games to create and produce a movie based on the video game’s story. According to reports, Studio71 has expedited the production and intends to transform the successful game into a film franchise.

There are also rumors that Roy Lee is in the running to be a producer for the movie. For those who don’t know, Lee is a well-known producer of spooky films like Doctor Sleep, It (The Grudge), the Ring (The Eye), and also The Woman in Black, to mention a few.

“We’re thrilled to be partnered with such an incredible team in Mob Games and their breakout game, Poppy Playtime.
Their vision for this game is a vivid tapestry that allows the space for feature films that don’t retread on the narrative’s gameplay.
Fans of this franchise are in store for a new storyline that stands alone as its own terrifying and gripping saga.”

At the start of the game, you’ll find yourself in an abandoned toy factory, where the aim is to live until the next morning while being hunted by a horde of animated toys. This game’s gameplay and tone are strikingly similar to Scott Cawthon’s wildly popular Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.
