My Hero Academia Vigilantes Where to read online

The world of My Hero Academia is packed with several organizations, groups, and heroes to populate them. While the main story predominantly focuses on the students of the U.A. High School, there are many facets of the Hero Society that are left unexplored. My Hero Academia Vigilantes is a spin-off manga of My Hero Academia that shifts the focus to a different protagonist, taking on a different overall tone and premise set outside the events of the main story.

What to expect?

As the name suggests, My Hero Academia Vigilantes focuses on a group of vigilantes rather than professional heroes. The vigilantes are individuals who possess Quirks but don’t have the necessary licenses to become official heroes. They act as unofficial heroes similar to how heroes worked during the early days of the appearance of Quirks.

The story takes place a few years before the events of the main series, during a time when All Might was still active as the Symbol of Peace, essentially making it a prequel. It follows the story of Koichi Haimawari, a young man who goes by the vigilante name “The Crawler.” Koichi’s Quirk “Slide and Glide,” allows him to move at high speeds on any surface.

My Hero Academia Vigilantes was written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and was illustrated by Betten Court, the same duo that is currently working on the Jump+ Series Spider-Man: Octopus Girl.

Vigilantes was the brainchild of Tetsuya Sato, an editor of the original manga. Even though Horikoshi isn’t directly involved in the manga, every chapter is supervised and approved by him.

My Hero Academia Vigilantes started serializing on August 20, 2016. The series comprises fifteen volumes and a hundred and twenty-six chapters overall. Vigilantes ended on May 28, 2022, and the final volume of the series was released on July 4, 2022. The English version of the same is expected to release on October 10, 2023.

Conclusion

Spin-offs often tend to explore the lesser-known aspects of certain crevices of the main story. In line with that, the concept of Vigilantes proves to be quite an intriguing aspect of the My Hero Academia universe.

The spin-off also carries a slightly darker tone, giving it a mature feel and enough distinction to separate it from the main series. Overall, My Hero Academia Vigilantes is a true treat for fans who couldn’t get enough of the Hero Society.
