NBA: When is Andrew Wiggins coming back? – Updates on Wiggin’s possible return to the Warriors lineup

Whats happening with andrew wiggins

The Golden State Warriors are heavily missing the presence of All-Star forward, Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins was sidelined from the team from February 15 until the end of the season due to “personal reasons” that were, later on, revealed about his father’s health issues. With the 2023 NBA playoffs right around the corner, when is Andrew Wiggins really coming back to the Golden State Warriors lineup?

When is Andrew Wiggins returning to the NBA?

After everything he has been through, Andrew Wiggins is finally returning to the league. He has missed 25 games and hasn’t played since February 15. However, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, as well as teammate Steph Curry, believes that the former first-overall pick is “ready to go”.

“The biggest thing with Andrew [Wiggins] will be the rhythm. Going from not playing to the playoffs. That’s a pretty big leap. He’s looked great over the last week. He’s feeling good and he’s ready to go.” Steve Kerr on Andrew Wiggin’s return.

  • According to initial reports, Wiggins has already participated in team practices and 5-on-5 scrimmages. Although, the biggest problem in his return would be his conditioning. However, Wiggs has told his team that he has been watching games and working out by himself even though he is away from the team and tending to his family.
  • The Athletic’s Shams Charania has revealed that Andrew Wiggins will be playing in game 1 of the first round of the 2023 playoffs. The Warriors will match with the Sacramento Kings. According to Shams, Wiggs is already cleared to play but will come off the bench for a limited playing time.

The Andrew Wiggins effect: Why he is the 2nd best player in the Golden State Warriors

Before he was sidelined, Wiggins posted great numbers for Golden State. This season, he averaged 17.2 points, 2.3 assists, and 5.0 rebounds on 47.3% shooting. But, that’s not what makes him the No. 2 player on his team.

Arguably, Andrew Wiggins is the Warriors’ best two-way player. He has proven to be a great player on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is a threat with his versatility and beautiful midrange jump shot. Defensively, he is a nightmare with his quickness, size, length, and athleticism.

His heroics in the 2022 NBA Finals resulted in them becoming the eventual champions, beating the Boston Celtics, 4-2. He was an X-factor and was even the best player in some playoff games when Steph Curry gets locked down. In the finals, he broke as an ultimate wing defender and a reliable scorer for the dubs. Truly, to say that he is a valuable player for the team is an understatement. Now that he is with the Golden State Warriors again, the reigning champions are looking mighty tough with a complete cast. Add that to the return of Gary Payton II, they’re bound to get the Larry O’Brien trophy once again.
