UPDATE (11:19 PM, November 8th): ESRB Rating changed from E for Everyone to M for Mature.
UPDATE (11:07 AM): The PS4 version has most of the erotic material removed and doesn’t have the Boob Jiggle Slider, which indicates, it’s an all-ages version of the game. “Sony sucks!”, my informant commented.
Erotic visual novel series NEKOPARA is heading towards PS4 and its first volume, released today, has been rated “E For Everyone” by the Entertainment Software Rating Board, ESRB.
In the world of NEKOPARA, humans live alongside catgirls, known as “Nekos”, and are able to keep them as pets. As the genre suggests, it’s an erotica and of course, it contains mature content.
The game is tagged under “Nudity” and “Mature” on Steam. Not just that, but the developers themselves have described it to have “lewd jokes & dialogues”, “nudity”, “bath scene nudity covered by steam” and “breast jiggle toggle”.
Users have rated the game to be an “overwhelmingly positive” one and is quite popular in its genre. One reviewer wrote, “Most of the game is very cute and friendly, but there are scenes of an adult nature.”
“If you aren’t into anime cat-maid nudes, don’t worry, you can click through these few scenes very quickly and just ignore that aspect of the story quite easily.”
Even when NEKOPARA Vol.1 came out for the Switch in July, it was rated M for Mature by ESRB. Nintendo eShop requires you to go through an age-verification page before accessing the game’s page.
It’s strange how ESRB has rated the game “E” on PS4 despite the mature content the game is known for. It might be an all-ages version of the game, having a resemblance to the 2017 OVA released on Steam.
NEKOPARA Vol.1 costs $14.99 on the PlayStation Store, with a 2.19GB size. I’ll try to get a copy of the game and confirm with you if the game is actually an “E For Everyone”, or it was just an imbecilic mistake.
Make sure you subscribe to our push-notifications and never miss an update on NEKOPARA Vol.1. Until next time, Happy Gaming!
